ProGammon is the in-house brand of GamesGrid and the company behind it. It makes real, physical tournament boards, and the boards you play on GamesGrid are their digital replicas.
Never sold, always earned
Every ProGammon board exists for one reason: to promote GamesGrid and the backgammon community it serves. The physical boards are never sold. They are won, in tournaments and events, or earned by the people who help the game grow. Promote GamesGrid, bring new players to the tables, share the game with the people around you, and you put yourself in line for one. It is a simple arrangement and an honest one: the more the community grows, the more boards go out into it.
Named after Malta and Gozo
The company is based in Malta, and its boards carry the islands with them. Each is named after a place on Malta or Gozo: Floriana, Valletta, Rabat, Birgu, Salina, Ramla, Safi, Selmun and Victoria. The classic boards pair a heat-printed, wool-like playing surface with a leatherette case embossed with a snake-leather pattern and gold hinges, in classic colours that are easy to read across a long match. The Crazy Horse series takes the same place names and dresses them in real Crazy Horse leather: rich, oiled brown leather that darkens and marks with use, so that no two boards age in quite the same way.
Floriana
One board stands for the whole idea. Floriana, with its green field and its red and white checkers, is the board every player meets first on GamesGrid. It has become the face of the platform, online and off.
What a real ProGammon means
Because the physical boards cannot be bought, a real ProGammon means something particular to the people who own one. A ProGammon on the table says that its owner either won it at the board or helped the game find new players. Either way, it was earned. That is exactly the point, and it is the reason the company that runs GamesGrid has never put a price on a real one.
