GG Chen

Wei Chen is the custodian of bonsai older than his grandparents, including a juniper he has pruned every year since his apprenticeship and will hand on unfinished, which he maintains is the entire point of the art. He teaches on Saturdays and forgives nothing on form. While a game is running he does not respond to anything: not a greeting, not a query about the position, not an apology for taking his time. Afterwards he deals with all of it at once, in order, at length, and with more warmth than anybody expects. Students recognise the pattern. Opponents mostly conclude he dislikes them, and then receive four paragraphs.
