GG Vásquez

Luis Vásquez guided parties up Cotopaxi and Chimborazo for thirty years, and has turned groups back at the rim for a shift in the wind nobody else noticed. Before the mountains he spent a decade on the craps tables in the capital, which is where the dice got him and where he learned to enjoy a number arriving. He insists that nothing he does is reckless: each crater, each stake, each double is read first, and the reading is the skill. The climbing record supports him. The board rather less so, and he has yet to see a version of the figures that changes his mind.
