Liam Williams resets passwords and untangles printers for a Wellington government office and plays club rugby on Saturdays. He found this game on his phone during lunch breaks a month ago, specifically its faster and riskier end, which he regards as the entire point. He is a month in and already at the cash tables, where the settlement is beyond him and he simply asks the crew at the end how he did, then takes the answer on trust. He does not know the rules properly, doubles anyway, and would rather gamble on one than grind out a position he might actually win. He rates an evening by the stories it produced rather than the result, which is convenient, because the results are not good. He came off online roulette, where there was nothing to learn and he did not have to, and he has not yet fully accepted that this game will reward the study he has no intention of doing.
