GG Cardozo

Lucía Cardozo opened her bakery in Pocitos the year her eldest was born, and half the barrio calls her la señora de las medialunas. She is behind the counter before dawn six days a week and still bakes for the whole building on Sunday mornings. Her children put the online game on her phone two winters ago. She plays in the hour before the ovens, which is four in the morning her time, and she is often the only person awake in the room she is playing in. She decides fast, talks the whole way through, and treats every opponent like somebody who has just walked into the shop. She has never once asked what the score was. She joined the retirees' circuit rather than any of the others and is the youngest player in it by twenty years, which she says is exactly why she likes it: nobody there is in a hurry either, and they are all awake at the same strange hour.
