GG Win

Aung Win reads a rough stone by eye before the first cut, a judgement his trade prices in fortunes, since one bad stroke can ruin a piece worth a street. He apprenticed at twelve, sweeping up scraps, and other men now bring him the boulders they dare not price. At the board he does the opposite of what the bench requires. Offered a safe six and a loose but elegant one, he takes the second every time, on the grounds that a shape he finds attractive is one he handles well. It costs him. He has never once called the habit a mistake.
