GG Juma

Joseph Juma manages beach lodges on the coast, a job of full occupancy, absent staff and guests who arrive in the wrong month, all of it resolved before noon. He plays quickly and pushes hard. He also opens every match by saying which of the two of you will make the first real error, and he names one, and there is no hedging in it whatsoever. He is right rather more often than not. When it goes against him he admits so at the end, cheerfully, and with no suggestion that he intends to stop. The tally he keeps is not private. At the start of a season he gives his hit rate from the last one, rounded against himself.
