GG Karimov

Farid Karimov spent his career on the high dams, calculating loads where the river arrives as snowmelt and leaves as electricity for much of a country. Twice he wintered at the plant when the roads closed, an experience he recommends for perspective. Retired to the capital, he plays online against people young enough to be his grandchildren. He can recite the passes he has made and why each was correct, in order, going back ten seasons. The takes are not in the recital. Ask about one and he looks mildly puzzled, as though the question concerned somebody else's game. A pass that gets questioned gets one reply and it is not a sentence. He sends the position back in a notation he learned forty years ago and half the division must look up, then says nothing whatever comes back.
