GG Rahmonov

Dilshod Rahmonov runs a workshop in Khujand where suzani panels are stitched to the old patterns, choosing thread and colour by whatever the eye lands on first. He plays a board the same way. Offered a position with two reasonable answers, he takes whichever one he saw first and moves it without a second look, and if you ask him why, he tells you plainly that is what he saw and that is what he did. He carries the same instinct to the Friday chouette, taking the box on a hunch and pricing it by feel rather than count, and losing some weeks and winning others without much changing his manner either way. He shrugs, sets up the next hand, and starts again.
