GG Rakhimov

Sardor Rakhimov has run the export season for fifteen years from a Tashkent office with three telephones and a kettle nobody switches off, moving the crop against deadlines that do not move for anybody. Out of harvest he coaches his son's football side with identical urgency. His playing year matches the working one exactly. From the first lorries to the last consignment he is on every evening, blitzing decisions, taking a bad roll and the next game in the same breath. Then the season ends and he disappears for four months, answers nothing, and returns without explanation the week the ginneries start again. Opponents have stopped asking where he goes. His division treats the reappearance as the real start of the season.
