About Andris Liepins

Andris Liepins owns Liepins Import & Export, the company behind Blitz Boards and Blitz Premium. Blitz Boards is the cheapest set in the club and the one every new member receives after the Invitational. It has become especially popular with new and casual players. Blitz Premium sits one step above it: sturdier, more colour, still affordable.

Liepins wants Blitz boards everywhere people play backgammon. So far, the plan is working. He flies to Guangzhou six times a year and knows the production line personally. Wang, his doubles partner, runs the China side of the business day to day and is the reason those trips work as well as they do.

Their partnership carries over to the board. Liepins pushes things forward. Wang catches what he misses.

Liepins talks about boards in quantities, margins, tolerances and shipping dates. Sentiment rarely enters into it. The exception is his grandfather's old board from Kurzeme. That one is not for sale, not for copying and, preferably, not for discussion.
