GG Marxer

Stefan Marxer ran the same discreet family office for fifteen years and retired in complete obscurity, which he regards as the achievement. A client taught him this in the eighties. His collection of antique doubling cubes runs to forty-odd pieces, some of them from the twenties, each one catalogued and insured and never touched: he plays with a plastic set bought at an airport, on the grounds that the good ones are objects rather than equipment. Somebody once suggested he was missing the point of owning them. He said that was the point of owning them, and changed the subject. The catalogue is up to date, insured annually, and has never been shown to anybody in the division.
