GG Thapa

Bishal Thapa carried for twenty years to the high camps, reading trail and weather for men who had paid to be looked after, and put each rupee into the lodge he now runs with his sons. A German trekker taught him the board in 1994 in exchange for three nights' bed, which he still considers the best rate he ever gave. He knows what the software recommends on the first roll. He has known for a long while, and he plays something else, every time, on the grounds that a line everybody has memorised is a line everybody is ready for. It costs him a little and he thinks it buys more, and no amount of analysis printed at him has ever moved the habit.
