GG Yang

Fang Yang plays Mahjong for a living where the houses run from morning until midnight; his parents own one, which is where the education happened. He found this through an online argument about which was purer and has never conceded the point. The dice, he maintains, render it the shallower of the two, and he says so freely to anybody who raises it. He also sits down most evenings, keeps a chip seat going at the weekend, and has turned work away for a fixture. He sees no tension in any of that. What he will not do is enter anything short. A five-pointer, he says, is the dice having their way with two people, and if this is to be the lesser game he would like enough of it for that to stop mattering.
