Niamh Byrne spent a working life deciding what a human year was worth to an insurer, which she describes as less morbid than it sounds and better paid than it should have been. She keeps a list of first matches. Every member she has faced is on it with a date, and on the anniversary a short message arrives: one line, no analysis, the number of years and nothing else. She has been doing it since 2011 and has never missed one. Several people have said it is the only thing that makes the division feel like a club, which she regards as an overstatement of a filing habit. Nothing goes out for a win or a loss, which she says would be sentimental.
