GG Ebrahimi

Maryam Ebrahimi wove carpets and textiles in Isfahan for most of her life, work in which a pattern is read from the back of the loom and held in the head for months. She learned this game at her husband's board and has played it since he died, in the evenings, on a tablet her granddaughter set up for her. She sees the board as a pattern rather than a set of odds, which serves her better than it should and then abandons her entirely. She has never learned the cube, because he never used one and there was nobody afterwards to explain it. She is warm to everybody, wants nothing from the result, and plays the openings he played.
