GG Halvorsen

Erik Halvorsen solved his father's chess puzzles before breakfast and was a junior champion at twelve. He studies mathematics in Oslo, owns a rucksack, a board and a bicycle, and is spoken of, loudly and constantly, as a future world number one.

None of that talk comes from him. He does not correct it either. He calculates to the end of the tree and then plays what the tree said, and between rolls he is somewhere else entirely: no chat, no eye contact, no visible interest in who is sitting opposite. It reads as modesty and it is not. He intends to be remembered, and he has worked out that the fastest route there does not involve talking to anybody in this room.
