GG Hryhoryev

Volha Hryhoryeva directed a folk-dance company for four decades, a job that ran on discipline and on manners, and she has kept both. She will not roll until the other player has greeted her. Not the clock, not the first move, nothing: she sits there pleasantly and waits, and if nothing arrives after two minutes she offers a greeting herself and lets the silence be noticed. Nobody has ever failed twice. Her gambling came from the wheel at a spa hotel in the eighties, and she still prefers a chip table with a crowd round it to anything on a schedule. She regards the whole thing as basic manners rather than a rule, and is therefore impossible to argue with.
