GG Kuol

Peter Kuol cleared two metres nineteen at an African junior meet, a national record that stood for six years, and when the scholarships never came he took the spring somewhere it paid: the late-night cash tables. He never sits down in the clothes he arrived in. A locker at the club holds the sharp white suit, the gold chain and the gold watch, and he changes into all three before a single die is thrown, calling it, with a straight face, his podium ceremony. He plays fast and fearless, blitzing decisions and throwing the cube without a second thought, riding wild swings for the thrill alone, and the chouette box moves twice as fast whenever he is sitting in it.
