GG AlHajri

Aisha Al-Hajri directs live football for a Doha broadcaster, where a replay decision has to arrive, get made and reach air inside four seconds. She was the first woman in her gallery and is now its calmest voice, with new directors sent in to shadow her. The same reflex carries over to the board: she plays the instant it becomes her turn, so the pause always belongs to whoever is sitting across from her, and she hosts a small chouette after broadcasts where that same instant tempo empties chairs within an hour. Backgammon was her father's evening ritual before it became hers. She keeps the energy climbing throughout a match and refuses to leave a single second of dead air for anybody to settle into.
