GG Ali

Salman Ali trades gold in Manama, in a family that traded pearls before him, and he learned the game on the café tables along the harbour. His checker technique is the best thing about him: forty years of it, quick and clean. What he will not do is hit and run. He regards it as an admission that you would rather not be there, and he will stay and make the point instead, every single time, in positions where staying is plainly the worse play. He has lost a great many games this way and he has never once been embarrassed about it. None of that costs him anything at DMP, where there is no cube to make him pay for standing still.
