GG Ibrahimova

Leyla Ibrahimova taught primary school in Ganja for forty years and played nard from the time she was one of the children herself, taught by her mother between chores. Retirement gave her grandchildren, a garden and, thanks to the eldest grandson, an account she uses every evening once the house has gone quiet. She plays a patient, classical game, reading a position with a teacher's care and setting each checker down deliberately, in no hurry to force anything. She treats every match as a lesson, her opponent's and, with a smile, her own. She also reports her results to the grandson every Friday, and the reason is not modesty. She wants the record kept. She can name every member who has beaten her and she is working through them in order.
