GG Fong

Inês Fong runs a pawnshop in the shadow of the great casinos, appraising watches and stones and haggling with people who need the money today, a trade that teaches you to name a figure fast and hold to it. She plays at speed and doubles into nearly everything. She also does not appear until the deadline is about to pass. Six days of nothing, then the lot at once, usually inside a single night, because a closing hour is the only clock she has ever respected. Twice she has lost a fixture altogether. Both times she described it as a scheduling matter. She brings the same fast, no-nonsense pricing to the cash tables, in and out before the deadline the way she is in and out of every appraisal.
