GG Choi

Wai Choi dealt baccarat to the high-roller rooms for thirty years and watched, from the far side of the felt, exactly how people behave once a decision costs them something. He will not enter a knockout. Not a cup, not a side event, nothing with a bracket in it: one bad evening, he says, is an evening and not a verdict, and he has turned the invitations down for eleven seasons running. What he does instead is sit at the chip tables, where an evening lasts long enough to be worth reading, and he prices the cube the way he would price a bet. He is composed, dry and close to impossible to bluff.
