GG Risso

Laura Risso grew up on Gibraltar's marina, the daughter of a dive-shop owner, and broke the territory's freediving depth record at twenty-four on a breath she describes as nothing special. She teaches now, and her first lesson never changes: the body follows the mind down. Whenever a backgammon score is level, she doubles, without exception and without checking the position first, a rule she applies as strictly underwater as she does at the board. Away from ranked matches she is a fixture of the cash tables and chouettes, diving into a raised box the same way she drops into a descent. Breezy and entirely unfazed by a bad roll, she reads the conditions, commits completely, and accepts what the depth gives.
