GG Simon

Hélène Simon studies number theory and regards the doubling cube as something to be proved instead of judged; her nickname at the club, which she pretends to dislike, is QED. The daughter of two lycee teachers, she learned from an uncle who plays a bit and knows it. He rings her before his own matches, for reassurance rather than analysis, and she answers every time, including from a tournament hall and once from the middle of her own game. She has never mentioned this to anybody here and would be embarrassed by the word kind. The two qualifications she will not discuss, at all, and the club has never established whether she went. Somebody asked twice. The second answer was shorter than the first.
