GG Wolf

Sophie Wolf shapes precision lenses in Jena, the youngest master in her workshop and the one given the commissions everybody else has refused, and she walks the Saale valley at weekends with a sketchbook. She will not start a match after nine. Not one, not a three-pointer, not against somebody who has travelled a division to find her, because work begun tired is work done twice and she has never seen a reason the board should be exempt. Invitations after that hour get a polite refusal and a suggestion of tomorrow. Her grandfather, an optician, taught her the game and precisely that rule. Her division has learned to invite her early, and the two who forget are reminded politely every single time.
