GG Lee

Seo-jun Lee teaches baduk at a Seoul academy, having reached professional-qualifier level before accepting, at twenty-three, that teaching was his real rank. Backgammon arrived as a colleague's dare and held him because the dice offended him at first. He now brings his own games into the classroom. He puts a position from the night before on the board, changes nothing, and asks eleven-year-olds where he went wrong, and he uses the ones he lost rather than the ones he won. He has no interest at all in his own standing. The two games, he tells them, teach the same lesson: the win is assembled slowly, and the player who needs it loudly loses it.
