GG Saad

Rana Saad chases corruption stories for a Beirut newsroom, the reporter editors assign when a story has stopped answering the phone. She has been threatened twice, sued once, and printed anyway. Backgammon is the family inheritance, her father's café table, and she plays it the way she interviews. She will ask you to leave the blot. Out loud, unhurried, sounding entirely reasonable about it, the same tone she uses on a minister who has already decided to say nothing, and roughly one opponent in four obliges her. She hits the moment they do. The cube follows on her own deadline rather than the position's, and she has never once pretended the question was innocent, which is somehow what makes it work.
