GG Rusu

Ion Rusu decides when a vintage is ready by a judgement he has spent thirty years calibrating and cannot fully explain to trainees. He plays below ground. Every match, without exception, from the tasting room at the end of a tunnel where the temperature has not changed since before he was born, and he has turned down invitations to play upstairs at his own wedding anniversary. He says the light is wrong up there. Nobody has established whether this is a joke. His cube discipline surprises visitors who expect a farmer's game, and a bad roll he calls a hailstorm: accounted for, survived, never personal. Trainees are taken down on their first day and several have said it is the only interview they enjoyed.
