About Thomas Schmid

Thomas Schmid assembles watch movements in a Jura workshop and his benchwork ends up under famous names, which suits him completely. He walks the same forest loop daily and plays the same club nightly. The tweezers date from 1989, so do the loupe, the bench mat and the chair, and when the workshop was refitted he moved the whole arrangement into the new room unchanged and asked them not to touch it. His laptop is nine years old for the same reason. Anything that has not failed, he says, has not given him a reason. His club replaced the tables last spring and he brought his own chair, which nobody has mentioned since.
