GG Bishop

Edward Bishop stood as a first-class umpire for two decades in Yorkshire, which is twenty years of being the only person on the field whose job is to be certain. A move played is a move played. His own fingers leave a checker and that is the end of it, whatever he sees a second later, and if you ask to take yours back he will decline pleasantly and without any suggestion that you were wrong to ask. He has lost matches to this and mentions it himself. He decides quickly, because hesitating in public was never an option, and his cube is rare, late and almost always right.
