GG Iskakova

Aigerim Iskakova sang the great soprano roles in Almaty for forty years and offers a rematch before her opponent has finished bearing off the last checker, win or lose, every time. The habit began, she says, because a good scene never ends on the final note. Most people say yes. The few who decline get the same offer again the following week, with no sign the first refusal registered. Her cube decisions follow feeling rather than count, and a big loss passes the way a missed note passes, loudly, briefly, then forgotten entirely. Give her a chip session or a loud chouette over a quiet tournament table any evening of the week.
