GG Cabrera

Juan Cabrera played professional polo out of Buenos Aires for twenty years, a six-goal handicap and three club championships, before a shoulder ended the riding and the tables inherited the swagger. Once he takes the box in a chouette, he does not surrender it: he has played on through dinner, through other people's bedtimes, through his own better judgement, because stepping out feels to him like conceding a match he has not lost yet. The cream linen suit, the Panama hat and the gold rings survived the transition intact, along with a grin that says he has already doubled you. He plays a wild, aggressive game and throws the cube like a charge down the field, and caution, he holds, is strictly for the spectators.
