GG Costa

Juliana Costa auditions for every part going at drama school in Rio and treats a backgammon position the same way she treats a script, reading it for what it could become rather than what it actually is. She sees the shape of the position she wishes she had and plays for that instead, genuinely surprised each time the board disagrees. Her grandfather taught her the game last summer and already regrets it. She turns the cube on instinct and treats a wrong guess about the position the same way she treats a fluffed line, with a laugh and total confidence in the next attempt. Down at the cash tables she is quick to ask for the box and rarely walks away from one early.
