GG Nikolić

Miloš Nikolić ran a kafana, the traditional late-night tavern of music, rakija and talk till dawn, for forty years, and something of that unhurried warmth has never left him. After every match, win or lose, he names the one roll he thinks decided it, unprompted, and has been right often enough that regulars now wait for his verdict before agreeing on their own version of events. His game is patient and story-laden, treating a position the way he once ran a long night at the kafana, never rushed, always listening for the right moment. Storied, proud and genial, full of a vanishing world's late nights, he treats the tavern years as his real education, and backgammon as the postmortem he gets to enjoy afterwards.
