GG Álvarez

Lucía Álvarez studies mathematics at Salamanca, in lecture halls older than most countries, competing nationally in junior chess until she swapped preparation files for proofs at seventeen. She has never accepted that backgammon resists a clean solution the way chess eventually yields to one, and treats the whole game as an open problem she is chipping away at alone, a private spreadsheet of positions, a growing folder of exceptions to rules she thought were fixed. She solves quietly, then acts on what the numbers say, reviewing a loss the way she marks a failed proof, error located, method rebuilt. Her college team stopped offering her draws years ago. She still believes, against all sensible advice, that the spreadsheet will one day simply be finished.
