GG Dvořáková

Jana Dvořáková has directed a marionette theatre in Prague for twenty years and turns the doubling cube the instant a double six lands, every time, whatever the position actually calls for. She cannot explain the reflex beyond saying a six and a six together demand a response. Regulars in her division have learned to expect it, and some have started counting on the mistake, though she has never once corrected it. She learned backgammon from the theatre's carpenter between rehearsals and plays it the way she blocks a scene, by instinct rather than diagram. The same reflex follows her to the cash tables, where a lost stake gets filed away as something to laugh about once the curtain comes down.
